ABOUT SHELLEY

Blessed with a voice that can seamlessly fit into almost any musical genre, Shelley Jones brings a sense of authenticity and soul to every song she sings. Be it jazz, blues, pop, R&B, soul, groove, rock or country, Shelley has sang it all and made each style her own.

Growing up in rural Alberta listening and singing along to her four older siblings music collections, Shelley began performing rock, pop and blues music in various “cover” bands. She first discovered jazz after entering in the vocal music program at Grant MacEwan. Heavily influenced by the jazz vocalists and instrumentalists she heard on recordings and live performances, Shelley began jamming with her fellow music students and realized she had a natural feel for singing jazz. Upon graduating from the vocal program, she began performing jazz professionally, working in duos, trios, quartets and big bands as well as a few symphony orchestras. Besides working as a jazz singer, Shelley also sang in numerous pop, rock, R&B and soul bands and was part of a ten piece”house band” which performed several nights a week for over 3 years. Because of her versatility as a vocalist and ability to fit into any musical situation, Shelley is a “first call” singer for musicians and bands throughout the province. Some of her recent performance highlights include being a guest vocalist with Tommy Banks in his Tommy Banks and Friends show at the Winspear Centre , performing with Alfie Zappacosta in the 30th Anniversary show for the “Dirty Dancing” movie soundtrack and performing background vocals for Tom Cochrane at an Edmonton Oilers Benefit concert. Shelley continues to regularly perform with her band A Touch of Cole, where they recently performed a sold-out show at Festival Place Theatre in Sherwood Park. Shelley also regularly performs alongside some of Alberta’s top musicians such as PJ Perry, Sandro Dominelli, Andrew Glover, Don Berner and many others.

As well as being a performer, Shelley also developed her songwriting skills and has written, recorded, and released 4 solo albums as well as a Christmas CD with the Flextime Band. She has also appeared as a guest vocalist on numerous recordings from other artists and has sang several radio/television jingles.

As a highly experienced stage performer with a warm, personable and captivating stage delivery, Shelley continues to expand her fan base across the country.
