Vocalist Shelley Jones and pianist Matt Day have combined their talents and vast performing experience for a musical project called Double Time. Fusing groove, soul, jazz, and R&B with Top 40 and pop repertoire , this duo has the ability to sound like a full band. With a vast library of songs to choose from and the ability to connect with their audience, Shelley and Matt can customize their musical selections to fit your theme or musical needs. Double Time is a great option for a smaller budget and is guaranteed to add energy and atmosphere to your event.
Shelley’s passion for music is clearly evident in any style she sings, be it jazz, groove, R&B or soul. A highly seasoned and versatile artist, Shelley’s rhythmic, soulful and passionate voice infuse all her performances with excitement, taste and style. Having performed in big bands, symphony orchestras, jazz groups as well as Top 40 pop, soul and R&B bands, Shelley has the experience and talent to make any style she sings her very own. With 4 solo albums to her credit as well as numerous recordings as a guest vocalist, Shelley continues to expand her fan base across the country.
Matt Day has been performing on the Alberta music scene since the early 90’s. As an all-around entertainer, Matt is one of the busiest and hardest-working musicians in the business, consistently performing over 20 shows a month.
Matt began his professional music career as the pianist for the Flextime Jazz Trio at the Jasper Park Lodge, where he performed six nights a week for well over a decade. Matt then spent the next several years expanding his profile by producing and performing corporate and customer-focused shows as a piano player/vocalist, professional emcee, speaker and musical humourist. Some highlights of Matt’s career include playing for Queen Elizabeth on her royal visit to Edmonton, emceeing the City of Edmonton New Year’s Event at City Hall, and being the pianist for the Edmonton City Council swearing-in ceremonies for over a decade. Along with all his various musical projects, Matt currently plays solo piano several times a month at Rogers Place.
Talented and funny, along with a vast repertoire of classic and current songs has kept Matt Day on the forefront of the Alberta music scene for several years. Whether he’s playing piano, emceeing a function, doing a musical comedy show or working with a vocalist, Matt will be entertaining audiences for many years to come.
